Wadi Naqab- Baqal village – Nahela One way. Ras al Khaimah.

Wadi Naqab, located in Ras Al Khaimah, is a stunning natural area perfect for hiking enthusiasts. The Naqab area offers breathtaking views and a challenging yet rewarding experience.

As this is one way hike, you need to park cars at both ends.
We parked some distance before the Naqab dam for Baqal hike trail start point.
Due to present condition of the offroad, sedan cars also can reach here, with some care.

Then we also parked a car at the end of the hike, near Nahela village (much before Nahela / Baqal caves trail)

We hiked up by the standard Baqal trail of the old washed out offroad all the way to the Baqal village.
The route is clearly visible and you can not get lost.
The trail achieves high elevation from the start without any breather and then you start having great views of the area of Yanas, Tafif and nearby range.

Once at the village, we explored through the village and the houses, cemetery and water reservoirs.

Then we proceeded across the village southwards an soon connected to a donkey trail that leads you out of the village and towards Nahela.
There are few spots where the trail is not clearly visible, but you will find it if you look for it directionally.

Some sections are with loose rocks which can be slippery, so take care.

Finally after snaking through the mountain and few ups and downs, we connected to the offroad to Nahela which takes you all the way down to the 2nd car parking as noted above.

This is quite nice hike which takes you through different terrains and views and not much popular yet.

Grade: Moderate

We had the good fortune to see low clouds and a bright rainbow as we hiked from Wadi Naqab through the Baqal village and down to the road. The journey over the washed-out road was magnificent. In Baqal Village, we can find some archaeological remnants, old cemetery, ancient water storage construction (which are still in use) as well as few modified homes too. The journey back to ground level via the designated trail was easy and total hike covered almost 13 km at an elevation of 770 meters. At normal speed, anyone can complete the hike in six hours, but it’s ideal to go in the winter because there aren’t any sunshades along the way.
We are grateful to Patrick for planning the hike and helping us out. I hope to see you on another hike soon.

Thank you so much Patrick for this amazing hike. It was awesome trail with beautiful weather. We really enjoyed joyed chilled breezy weather with low clouds. It was a good trail for quick elevation. Have done it with Patrick earlier for our summer hikes. But this time we had taken a alternative trail for descending which has amazing view.

I had the most incredible hiking experience on the [ Baqal Village ] trail! From start to finish, it was nothing short of amazing. It was a pleasure hiking with Mr Patric after a long time.
The trail itself was well-marked and beautifully but somewhat washed away by rain in some places, even then it was easy to follow even for beginners. The scenery along the way was absolutely breathtaking
panoramic mountain views. It felt like stepping into another world, and I couldn’t stop taking photos at every turn.
Thank you Patric for the wonderfully experience and all the knowledge u shared along the way.
I’d recommend bringing a good pair of hiking boots, as some areas were a bit rocky, but it was all part of the fun.
The feeling of accomplishment when you get to the top is unmatched.
I also appreciated the peaceful atmosphere throughout the hike. Thank you and wish to hike with us often.

I did the Wadi Naqab- Baqal village and back section. It was quite challenging for a first timer. The hike starts with an immediate climb. There are couple of sections that are boulder fields. You get a close up look of some interesting rock formations.
Would recommend this to a moderately experienced hiker or beginner who is in good physical shape who would like a short hike to see some interesting rock formations.

Thank you Patrick for always organizing fantastic hikes.
The trail offers hikers a challenging yet rewarding experience. Baqal Village is inaccessible by road, making it a unique destination for those seeking to explore the rugged beauty of the region.
Hikers can expect significant elevation gain of 800 meters.
Upon reaching the village, you’ll find a plateau offering a panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. This serene spot is ideal for rest and even camping, providing a peaceful retreat.
Given the trail’s steep and rugged nature, its recommended for hikers with a good level of fitness and some hiking experience.
