Wadi Naqab – Baqal and Tallah villages – Yibir Comtel Tower Loop Hike.
This trail is marked “Difficult” due to,
The challenging nature of trail section between Tallah village and the tower, high elevation gain, long hiking distance, rough rocks and navigation required in the terrain.
It can be considered as Moderate level if only followed for Baqal and Tallah villages section.
A challenging hike of 18 Kms with 1400 meters Elevation gain completed in total 9 hours including breaks.
Since 30 months of my Hiking life, while driving on E611 Highway towards RAK, I was always attracted to the Sat Comms Tower installed on top of Yibir mountain at 1425 meters elevation. I always wanted to reach there by Hiking.
2 years ago, my friend Samu and I had tried to reach it from Baqal and Talah village during April 2019 and we couldn’t reach it for various reasons including unknown path and Fatigue.
We, a small group of friends planned the hike to reach the Yibir Tower and succeeded.
We were helped very much by high Winds most of the Hike.
You can drive and park here even with Sedan cars. The last 3 kms is flat Offroad.

Sedan Cars will manage to drive on Graded road for about 2.8 Kms to the starting point of the Hike from Yanas road junction.
We hiked up to Baqal village from Wadi Naqab via the popular trail on the washed out offroad near the Naqab Dam that goes almost all the way up to Baqal village.
The path is clearly visible and safe too.
A mixture of road made by heavy machinery and some bouldering and close to the Baqal village some rocky path.
Trekking poles will be of great help.
If you turn back and see, the views of Yanas mountain walls are great.
If you like camping, there are multiple locations to camp due to many Terrace fields in both villages, although we suggest you camp in first village Baqal.
From Baqal village, we proceeded to the Talah village from the left side which is popular trail. There are some interesting modern Stone houses on the way. One house has its own Helipad too !!
From Tallah village, we hiked up further towards Yibir Mountain comtel tower which is clearly visible over the mountain surface, there is absolutely no trail there but the mountain surface is good hard rocks and stable.
The Sat Comms Tower mountain of Yibir is at 1425 meters elevation.
While Descent, we explored more and took a different way down on Mountain surface and to Talah village and again from there to Baqal village we hiked down using a different trail in the left ( rarely used by hikers ) and finally climbed down to Wadi Naqab from Baqal through the well known Offroad trail.
Overall, a challenging hike of 18 Kms with 1400 meters Elevation gain completed in less than 9 hours.
Most of the Hike is on Mountain surface so planning of Shade, Water, Nutrition and other precautions are very necessary.
From Tallah village end to the Tower, the Wadi is bit difficult to climb up. You need some climbing experience.
The return path from the Tower can be used to climb up and down instead of the wadi path.
Please study all matters well in this trail for safe Hike.
