This is the trail of Highlander 2022 and 23, we hiked on the well visible mountain trail for 11.5 Kms as ascent but we stopped the mountain hike at Jebel Raharah (1550 mtrs) near the observation deck and then walked down to the Jais road last barrier parking to reach our 2nd car.
Its a fully marked and visible trail all the way.
You should park the cars at both ends of the hike as this is one way hike.

The trail is well laid, very visible and you can not get lost unless you want to.
Keep checking this wikiloc as and when you feel the need.
This initial section is a popular hiking segment of Musaibat village trail.
The path leads you via the Wadi Lahsa, and once you turn left to the mountain surface you pass by some abandoned fields and then all the way towards Musaibat village which is a part of Wadi Shah loop trail.
Once near the village, the trail bypasses away towards the left and leads to the Shah summit point at further right.
From the base of Wadi Shah summit base of 1050 mtrs, the trail leads left towards the vertical cliff wall of Oman border and then traverses on UAE’s newly developed longest balcony trail.
Continuing from an elevation of approximately 1,100m towards 1,650m over approx. 8km you will traverse along the Jebel Jais Rim trail with gradual to short but steep ascends.
On this section you will pass by 2 abandoned mountain houses and some abandoned farmlands in the left.
You will also be at the higher level over Hidden Oasis and Shahha villages.
This area is really beautiful.
The trail soon lead you on a steep gradient till you reach the Observation Deck at the top of Jebel Jais.
By now you will have covered about 11 Kms.
There are washrooms available here near the RAK mountain police stall.
We took the asphalted road towards the Jais road that leads to Puro 1484 restaurant and sledders. This road was is about 4 Kms till we reached our 2nd car.
Then we drove down to our 1st car.

About Highlander UAE 2022, 2023 hiking trails:

We could effectively divide the UAE Highlander 2022/23 trail into 4 segments as their start / end points have escape routes to the Jebel Jais road.
These individual segments can be actually hiked over 4 schedules to hike at leisure, but the issue will be car management as these will be one way routes.
Based on escape trails, I have divided the main 37 Kms trail of Highlander into 4 segments in clockwise fashion.
1. Jais road near Haqeel to Naqat area on Jais road.
The trail is about 11 Kms long, the road connection trail to Naqat is 2 Kms long.

The start point and end point driving / parking distance is about 3.5 Kms.
2. Naqat area (Jais road) to Parking #3 on upper Jais road.
The initial road connection trail of 3 Kms, The Highlander segment of 6.5 Kms and then the Jais road connection via Wassab village of 5 Kms.

The start point and end point driving / parking distance is about 18 Kms.
3. Jais road / Wassab connection trail of 5 Kms till Highlander segment of 5.5 Kms till the Jais view deck park.

The start point and end point driving / parking distance is about 5 Kms.
4. Jais View deck park to Highlander segment all the way till observation deck via Ghaf summit trail then descend all the way down to Wadi Lahsa via Musaibat village.
Total of 16 Kms.
This will be the longest and enduring hike and the car management will need 20 minutes of driving each way. The start point and end point driving / parking distance is about 15 Kms.
Please use this trail as recorded but in reverse and pls remove the Jais true summit section hike.
