This trek consists of beautiful and complex landscapes and long journeys. We spent two days and one night climbing through the three forts of Alang, Madan and Kulang located in the highest mountains of Maharashtra. A scenic view of the valley with several notable peaks and reservoirs including Kalsubai, Vikatgad, Vishrangad, Ajobagad, Rathangad, Sandhan Valley in the Northeast, Dangya Pinnacle in the South, Harishchandragarh and Bhandardara in the Southeast can be seen.
We started our hike from Ghatghar village with a local guide.
We took 2 days to complete this trek.
We hiked Alang fort on the first day and then descended by ropes rappelling down from Alang mountain.
Then we walked towards Madan fort which is walking over narrow stairs carved out of the rocky terrain on the sides of the mountain.
There is a rope climbing also involved to reach higher level.
We spent the night inside one of the caves, the sleeping arrangements were arranged by the guide team.
Next morning we descended from Madan by rappelling down and then walked towards Kulang fort, our last fort of this trip.
The Kulang section is non technical and walking over steep rock cut staircases.
We explored the plateau of the Kulang and then returned the same way back to base of Madan fort.
From there we took a different route back to Ghatghar village.
