Wadi Darbat in Salalah is one of the most famous and beautiful places to visit during the khareef season. When the monsoon rains arrive, the dry hills suddenly turn into lush green slopes, and the wadi fills with flowing water, streams, and small waterfalls. The scenery feels almost unreal, with mist hanging over the mountains and camels wandering near the water. Many visitors come here to enjoy the cool weather, the wide open spaces, and the calm atmosphere that is so different from the rest of Oman’s desert landscapes.

Walking around Wadi Darbat is easy and relaxed, with plenty of open paths and grassy areas. It is not a hike that requires much effort, but more of a gentle walk where you can take your time, stop to enjoy the view, and sit by the streams. Families often bring picnic mats and spend hours near the water, while children play or ride the small boats sometimes available. The wadi also has caves and higher trails around the hills for those who want to wander a little further, but most people enjoy simply staying close to the water and greenery.

The casual hikes around Wadi Darbat are best enjoyed during the khareef, when the waterfalls are strong and the air is cool and refreshing. Outside of the season, the wadi becomes more dry and quiet, but it still holds a charm with its wide valley and peaceful setting. Whether you are looking to walk for an hour, take photographs, or just sit and relax in nature, Wadi Darbat offers a simple and rewarding experience.
